"In the end, yoga has less to do with what you can do with your body and more to do with the happiness that unfolds from realizing your full potential." - Rod Stryker

My Story

Sometimes it takes a loss of significant magnitude to change your personal perspective on health and wellness. My father died at the young age of sixty-six years old. Nearing the end of his life, I had my “aha” moment as I realized his demise was not something that just happened to him. The environment, the food he consumed and the lifestyle choices he made were significant factors in his quality of life and ultimately his death.

Despite the fact that we live in one of the most advanced countries in the world, we are among the unhealthiest. Many people’s poor lifestyle choices are simply a result of not being educated about the importance of proper nutrition, exercise, and environmental issues. We glorify the word "busy" way too often. We don't value self-care practices, often see them as "selfish" and as a result we miss the opportunity to prevent diseases that come later in life. We just accept things like thyroid issues and weight gain as part of old age.

What if there was more holistic health education in our communities? What if environmental health issues were better monitored? What if families had access to information to help them make better nutritional choices that would carry forward through generations? What if there had been better resources available twenty years ago, would my own family have made better life choices? Perhaps my father would still be alive and thriving. But we can only change the choices we make going forward.

After years spent working in corporate America, I suffered from many health issues that are now non-existent due to my decision to change my lifestyle. As I experienced results, I decided to make a career change. I wanted to do work that I was passionate about and help make a difference in other people’s lives. I went back to college and earned a Graduate Certificate in Holistic Health & Wellness. In addition, I trained to become a Registered Yoga Teacher, Certified Health & Wellness Coach, Aromatherapist, and studied Ayurveda. In 2013, I started my own yoga-based wellness business in Southwest Michigan, serving clients locally and from a distance.

Over the past several years, I have helped many clients establish a consistent wellness lifestyle that has improved their overall health. Yoga is a wellness tool and a big part of most of my clients' lives. With an open mind and a willingness to learn, I can teach you how to weave these easy to do, self-care techniques into your everyday life too!
