teen yoga & mindfulness

Teaching yoga to youth is very different from teaching to adults.  And, teaching youth in a studio is very different from teaching yoga in schools. To ensure these practices are taught appropriately, yoga teachers need specialized training.  Kathleen Belonga, RYT500, RCYT, is a mom to three teenage boys.  She is an Advanced Childlight Yoga Instructor, trained in Yoga 4 Teens, Yoga 4 Classrooms, Brain Gym, and Mindful Schools (meditation for schools) curriculum.

These classes are designed specifically for teen athletes, with poses designed to stretch key areas of the body based on type of sport. This is an ideal activity for team bonding, improving team performance, and reducing injuries. Pricing is based on group size, travel distance, and length of class.

Enjoy a studio or onsite yoga class, designed specifically for teens. This class will help teens learn proper alignment and stretches to reduce sports injuries and improve performance.  Students will also learn breathing and mindfulness meditation techniques to help alleviate test anxiety and stress.

Students will be provided use of blankets, blocks, straps, lavender scented eye pillows and essential oils to enhance relaxation.

Be an ambassador for change in your school! Teach your students self-awareness skills, raise emotional intelligence, and create a culture of optimism by implementing a mindfulness or yoga-based wellness program into your school's curriculum. Yoga & mindfulness practices support SEL programs.

Teachers who know how to use these wellness tools can use them off/on during the school day to liven up a group or calm down an overly energetic classroom. Studies show positive results such as improved grades, concentration, and overall better classroom behavior.

We offer teaching in your classroom or gym class. Teacher training workshops available for teachers who want to learn more. Onsite after-school yoga classes available for educational staff.
